Make titanium backup
Backup your sms list with sms backup and restore from market
Put rom on SD card
Download partitioning zip, unzip to desktop
You get 3 files, put them on the root of your SD card
Reboot in recovery
Make nandroid backup
Format system
Factory reset
Wipe dalvik cache
Wipe battery stats
Install MTD-recovery.zip
Reboot in recovery
Install rom zip
Install MTD-boot.zip
Reboot phone
Follow Setup
Launch No-Frills CPU Control: smartass2 / 200 Mhz / 768 Mhz, check set on boot
Restore titanium backup and restore sms
Set up Link2SD, see topics over here
Go to a typing box, long press and choose input type, then HTC_IME mod

If you have used the partitioning and want to try another ROM, undo the partitioning!!
First make sure you have a ROM on your SD card.
Then go to recovery: factory reset, wipe dalvik cache and format system.
Then Reflash CWM Recovery and install your new ROM.
